Is there a "Getting Started" page somewhere?

I'm an admin for a phpBB 3.0.8 forum that has been going for about 3 years and has 300 members, with people posting every day (19525 total). Installed MODs: AutoMOD, ACP Announcement Centre, FAQ Manager, Google Search, Prime Notify, Print Post Mod, Sitemap FX, UMIL - Unified Mod Install Library.

I've added the site & sitemap to Google Webmaster and it shows the Google bot crawling almost 2000-4000 pages per day.

I've also been trying to work through the suggestions made by webpagetest.org and so far only have a score of 74/100 (http://www.webpagetest.org/result/110322_XD_76K9/).

However, in the Google rankings, I struggle to compete with blogs, who have less than one post a day (sometimes only one a week!)? And of course Wikipedia, which always has their URLs at the top

Anyway, have others experienced this? Have I come to the right place to ask these questions?
