Went ahead and used the following for the re-write rule after reading this thread - How to 301 redirect forum to subdomain

Code: Select all
RewriteRule ^forums/(.*) http://forums.example.com/$1 [QSA,R=301]


Everything seems to be working great.

I'm running my forum today at http://www.groovypost.com/forum/ and for specific security, performance and hosting reasons, I looking to move the site to http://forum.groovypost.com I understand the SEO impacts this might cause and I'm OK with that at this point.... Thnx Typo.

I used this a few months back but never actually said thank you. It sure helps cut down the SPAM signatures on a forum.
