Re: Google rating suddenly crashed from page 1 to page 14

The site gradually climbed from page 14 to page 9 but has now crashed down to page 17 :( Google Webmaster Tools is not reporting any problems and nothing has changed on the site apart from the routine updating of content and addition of new content. The site was never even as low as page 9 when it w...

Google rating suddenly crashed from page 1 to page 14

I am hoping someone on here may be able to give me some clues as to why the Google rank of a website I run has suddenly - at some point in the last week - crashed. The website has been on the first page of the Google results for the main search term for well over a year, with the help of the phpBB S...

Mod for google image SEO

Images are an important traffic generator for my site - the main site seems to get better ranking for the images than the text content, and since it is a site about a glamour model on TV, image searches form a rather larger proportion of the search queries people use than they do for sites about les...

I've added an auth check to memberlist.php, groupcp.php and usercp_viewprofile.php on my forum so that these pages can only be viewed by users who are registered and logged in. I did this mainly because I don't want humans looking at those pages unless they're members, but partly also because I too ...

OK... thanks. ...use the GYM GOOGLE XML module to includes sitemaps from the static site (not the sitemapindex) in the forum sitemapindex. This is possible if the site is on the same domaine and level in the domain as the sitemap.php file or one separate domains with the proper entries in the static...

Thanks for moving the thread  Yes, I did try a search; I found patches for several other similar mods but I couldn't find one for this particular one. Not to worry though, I managed to work it out in the end and have posted my own patch: http://www.phpbb-seo.com/boards/advanced-mod-rewrite/dis...

Fixed phpbbhacks recent posts on index for adv rewrite

I have patched the phpbbhacks "Recent posts on index" mod for phpbb2 to work with advanced rewrite. - The phpbbhacks website calls this mod Recent posts on index revision 1.0.3, but the comments in the code itself call it "Integrated Toplist 1.0.3". It adds a section to the index...

Adv. rewrite with phpbbhacks "Recent Posts on Index&quo

I'm using this mod from phpbbhacks to display the 5 most recently replied-to topics on the index page: http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/4842 The forum and topic URLs are not rewritten... but strangely, the author and most-recent-poster profile links are rewritten. I have zero dupe installed so the...

Can you have nested sitemap indices?

My site is divided into two parts: the main content, which consists entirely of static HTML pages and images, and the forum subdirectory, which is the only dynamic content on the site. The two parts of the site are on separate servers (different physical machines), with a reverse proxy between the s...

Thankyou, I have followed your advice and taken it out again. Another thought occurs to me, though. The eventual destination of the redirect is the complete topic. So does that not mean that Googlebot will end up indexing the topic several times, once from the actual topic URL and once from each of ...

Googlebot doesn't seem to be bothering to follow the 301s for these files though. The redirections are certainly working properly... there is nothing wrong with the mod. Testing it using wget to spoof a googlebot request gives this output: wget 'http://www.lucy-pinder.tv/forum/viewforum.php?f=6&...

Only post urls, which are duplicates, are left statically rewritten to be disallowable by robots.txt. The zero duplicate will redirect post urls anyway, so, you won't see posts urls indexed with it. I installed the zero duplicate last night and indeed it does redirect the post URLs with a 301. Goog...

Solved... Turned out to be a client-side cookie blocking rule. It may be worth adding a warning in the docs that implementing this mod may cause your users to have to change their cookie settings.
