Why do i rank better on Yahoo than Google ?

I only just started trying to figure out SEO and have noticed that i rank better on Yahoo and MSN than i do on Google. I know that Google is the important search engine to do well on , any ideas why im doing badly on it ?

It's hard to tell without the url to your site. But generally, if google is faster than yahoo and bing as far as indexing, it may be harder to rank well on google depending (mainly) on the size of google index on the search query (being generally bigger than the other ones).

Every search-engine has his own approach and algorithm for the rankings if there weren't differences then other search-engines wouldn't be needed..
