I don't see the problem, it redirects correctly:

http://web-sniffer.net/?url=http%3A%2F% ... st163.html

Ah, I see that you misunderstand.

Let me explain, starting with some background: The first URL with postNNN.html refers to a specific post, not a topic. Because posts can be split from their topic thread into a new thread, phpBB defines post URLs. Post URLs never change, even after a split. Or to put it another way, posts are uniquely defined (post163.html), they are not an index into a thread because the thread associated with a post changes after a split.

Back to your URLs.... When a visitor (or bot) requests this URL:

http://www.eurospine2005.com/post163.html

The zero dup code translates it into its actual topic URL (or topic relative URL, e.g., topic-t55-20.html#p163):

http://www.eurospine2005.com/topic-t55.html

Search indices will not store two URLs since one (post163.html) will redirect to the other (topic-t55.html). In other words, the zero dup is working exactly as it should.

I've been trying to find out why the PR from my old /forum/index.php page hasn't been transferred to /forum/

When I check web-sniffer, /forum/index.php gets 301 redirected, but it has a session-id number.

web-sniffer link

Is there something wrong with the way I have set up zero dupe - or is this supposed to happen?

It's normal, phpBB3 only gets rid of SID for bots, so regular suers always gets a SID unless you set the phpBB3 SEO mod rewrite to get rid of them totally.
