Question on Zero duplicate

Postby 5942marine » Wed Jun 03, 2009 5:31 pm

I read through the info on phpBB3 SEO Zero Duplicate V 0.4.8

But to tell you the truth, I'm still not sure exactly what this mod is for? I have the SEO adavanced rewrite and GYM sitemaps installed, fyi.

Simple. In standard phpBB, there is more than one URL that represents the same page content, but bots don't know that. The zero duplicate eliminates multiple URLs referring to the same page content, and for multiple URLs already existing in the index, redirects them to the "canonical" URL.

The theory goes that search engines dilute the rank of a given page if it appears multiple times in the index. The other side benefit of the zero duplicate is that search bots can cover your site's content more efficiently since the bot won't waste time going over the same content (hence the name "zero duplicate").

No, it is bad to use post urls because they are duplicates of topic ones. And duplicates is the first thing to fight against while SEOing.

I have just installed phpBB_SEO_Ultimate_SEO_URLV0-6-0

Do I need to install Zero Duplicate or does it come with it?

If you just downloaded the mod and aren't using the phpBB-seo premod then you need to download zero dupe and install it manually. You can get it from the downloads section.
