Difference No Duplicate and Zero Duplicate?

Postby fadetoblack22 » Sat Jun 27, 2009 5:46 pm

I am not understanding the difference between these two mods.

Know the Zero Duplicate stops there being 2 different links to the same post, but I don't know what No Duplicate does.

What are the best settings to use with these on a normal forum?

thanks.

Exactly, what is the difference between Zero Duplicate vs No Duplicate?

This is not addressed for either download, while both are maintained...

The Zero dupe does http 301 redirect all possible duplicates, the no duplicate will just translate post urls to topic urls (with pagination and hash) on index, viewtopic and viewforum.

phpBB SEO No Duplicate V 0.6.0
No dupe replease wrote:This mod will get rid of post URLs on phpBB3 Index, forums, and topics and use topic url instead, for the same purpose, but without duplicates.

I was facing the same question and ended up here. And now that I uderstand it, I wanted to put it in my own words. Maybe others find it helpful:

- Zero Duplicate does 301 HTTP redirections for all posible duplicated URLS.
- No Duplicate changes the actual links on the Board Index, Forums Index, etc. to full "post/topic" (or whatever you configured your Zero Duplicate settings to) URLs.

Well, not exactly.
As you said, the zero dupe performs redirection, but the no duplicate will only translate post urls to the corresponding (with pagination and hash) topic url on index, forums and topic pages.
So the zero dupe does not change links in phpBB pages, while the no dupe does.
